On 9th April, Kathy Drakes led our service, and gave us a fascinating, informative, and surprising tour of Jerusalem and Gaza.  Kathy and Chris have been there twice in recent years, and found the Palestinians, in particular, warm and welcoming hosts, sharing what little they had, and happy to have foreigners visit.

She showed us the forbidding walls that surround all of the areas of Jerusalem that are important to the 3 main World Religions, and explained the obstacles to gaining entrance through the guarded gates.

We learned how difficult it is for Palestinians to move from one area to another for work or shopping, or visiting family; how constrained relations with Israel affect their daily lives.  Kathy used photos taken by herself or Chris, as well as maps and life stories from the 2024 World Day of Prayer manual which was written by the Ladies of Palestine Women's Union well before the present conflict started.

Our concluding prayers were for a peaceful solution to be found so that neighbours can live happy and productive lives.
